As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Budget is delivering $4.1 billion for new and upgraded schools in Western Sydney. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.

The project to deliver new permanent educational facilities in Box Hill includes a public preschool, primary school, and high school, all of which will open on Terry Road, Box Hill on Day 1 Term 1 2028.

To accommodate local families and provide access to education sooner, Box Hill Public School and Box Hill High School are both now operating from temporary facilities until the permanent facilities are completed. Both schools are located on George Street, Box Hill (entrance to the High School is via Merens Street).

The benefits

The new primary school will cater for 1,000 students and will include:

44 classrooms
3 support classrooms
Core facilities including canteen, hall and library
Sports courts and play areas
Covered outdoor learning areas.

The first stage of the new high school will cater for 1,000 students and will include:

50 classrooms including specialist classrooms for science, arts, wood, technology and metal work
7 support classrooms
Hospitality kitchen
Modern core facilities including, canteen, hall and library
Sports fields and courts
Covered outdoor learning areas.

The new preschool will accommodate up to 60 children per day and will include:

3 preschool rooms
Outdoor play area
Administration area, amenities and staff kitchen.

Progress summary

Permanent school facilities:

Main construction works to build the permanent school facilities are now underway and progressing well.
We are on track to complete construction in late 2027 with the new facilities open from Day 1 Term 1 2028.

Box Hill High School enrolment update:

Year 7 enrolment applications for 2026 are still open. For information on how to enrol, visit the school website: boxhill-h.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-us/enrol
