As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Budget is delivering record education funding, including $9 billion for new and upgraded schools. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.

Plans on exhibition

The planning application, known as a Review of Environmental Factors (REF), for Randwick High School is now on public exhibition on the NSW Planning Portal for Division 5.1 (Part 5) Activities.

Any comments on the proposal may be lodged through the Planning Portal by no later than Monday 20 October 2025.

The benefits

Randwick High School is being upgraded to provide additional new modern classrooms and upgraded core facilities to meet enrolment projections. The project will deliver:

construction of a new 2 storey building
new double height lecture theatre space
new covered links between buildings
new school admin hub
6 new modern general learning spaces
refurbishment of current Block B.

Progress summary

Stage 1 of the amalgamation of Randwick Boys and Girls High Schools was completed and ready for use on Day 1 Term 1 2025. These works included upgrading the canteen, upgrading the power supply, and extending the shade structures near the canteen and multi-purpose centre areas.

Stage 2 will see the application for planning approval via the Review of Environmental Factores (REF) submitted shortly and go on exhibition for public review and feedback.

Schools in Sydney's eastern suburbs and Georges River areas will increase co-educational learning opportunities from 2025.

Community Information Session

We are committed to ensuring that the school and local community are kept informed about the progress of this project. Your feedback is important to us. You are invited to a drop-in community information session on Monday 18 September 2025 at the Randwick High School southern hall off Rainbow Street. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the project and see artistic impressions of the planned construction. Attendees are welcome from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
