The benefits
Randwick High School is being upgraded to provide additional new modern classrooms and upgraded core facilities to meet enrolment projections. The project will deliver:
- construction of a new 2 storey building
- new double height lecture theatre space
- new covered links between buildings
- new school admin hub
- 6 new modern classrooms
- refurbishment of current Block B.

Progress summary
The structure for the new Lecture Theatre (Block 19) has been completed, and the roof sheeting has been installed. Other updates include:
- level 1 concrete pour for the admin building (Block 18) has been completed
- refurbishment of the Avoca and Barker Street corner garden area has been completed
- the building façade for Block 12 has been painted
- painting of the northern basketball court surface and the northern quad surface has begun.
Next steps
Work to combine 2 science labs into a marine science hub are starting soon, and will feature a dedicated marine science lab and 2 refurbished science classrooms, alongside upgrades to 2 art studios. Other works include:
- upgrading the school's optic fibre network
- structural steel installation for the new Admin Building (Block 18)
- external cladding for new buildings (Block 18 and Block 19)
- installing 2 large murals on the northern campus buildings
- contractor procurement for a new covered walkway linking the northern and southern school buildings.

Construction underway on major upgrade for Randwick High School
Construction has begun on the major upgrade of Randwick High School being delivered by the NSW Government as part of its commitment to rebuild public education and ensure families have access to world-class local public schools.
High schools move to co-education following community consultation
Schools in Sydney's eastern suburbs and Georges River areas will increase co-educational learning opportunities from 2025.

We are committed to ensuring that the school and local community are kept informed about the progress of this project. Your feedback is important to us. You are invited to a drop-in community information session on Monday 18 September 2025 at the Randwick High School southern hall off Rainbow Street. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the project and see artistic impressions of the planned construction. Attendees are welcome from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
