School Asbestos Management Plans and Registers
The department's schools asbestos register contains information about the existence and location of any known or presumed asbestos-containing materials on school sites. The vast majority of materials containing asbestos are safe. Studies show that if the material is left undisturbed and is in sound condition it poses no risk to health.
For each school in the Register you will find an Asbestos Management Plan and a Site Specific Management Plan for a small number of schools where we have found and remediated in-ground asbestos.
Our website is updated daily to capture any changes that are made to a register when it's required.
Update related to works notifications
From September 2022, all communications relating to infrastructure work at your school including works notifications about hazardous materials, are published on your school’s individual web page.
To find out what’s happening at your school, go to the School Infrastructure NSW home page and enter your school’s name in the ‘Find your school’ search bar.
Update related to school holiday maintenanceThe school holidays are the ideal time for school maintenance as it means work can take place without disrupting learning. Planned school holiday maintenance may include working with hazardous materials such as lead and asbestos. Because this work is taking place when school is on break, from September 2023 most schools will be listed on a dedicated webpage instead of receiving individual notifications. See what’s happening these upcoming holidays: school holiday work
This will allow members of the school community and neighbours to easily view and keep up to date with holiday work if they so wish.
