Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina Campus

Brisbane Water Secondary College is a dynamic comprehensive, co-educational, 7 to 12 high school located on the Woy Woy peninsula. The College was established in 2002 across two campuses to provide age appropriate teaching and learning environments on each campus and to greatly increase curricular and extra-curricular offerings. The Middle School Campus at Umina caters for students in Years 7 to 9 and provides a Middle Years education philosophy which emphasises team based teaching and learning, concentration on learning skills and basic competencies, and the development of confidence and leadership skills in students. Significant growth in student performance has been achieved in recent years in both literacy and numeracy components with the growth rate of our students from Year 7-9 matching and even exceeding State rates of growth in key areas. Our unique Teaching Teams structure has been a key feature in achieving this success with Head Teachers / Team Leaders in charge of each of the eight teams in the Middle School. Selective Classes exist in both Academic and Performing Arts streams. These have provided significant opportunities for children in theseprograms. Outstanding successes in school sport have been highlighted in Rugby League in 2011 where our Under 14 Team are State Champions winning the prestigious Bill Buckley Shield, whilst our Under 15 team is currently NSW Country Cup and All Schools Champion Team.
