Balgowlah Heights Public School was established in 1933 and is a dynamic school catering to the high expectations of the local community. The school has developed a proud tradition of high academic achievement and supports special programs for gifted and talented students including Opportunity Classes (OC) and an Enrichment Program. There are targeted programs for students experiencing difficulties in learning. We remain committed to providing an inclusive and engaging curriculum for our students. These values promote good citizenship, leadership and social justice for all students.Balgowlah Heights Public School has an outstanding tradition in the Creative and Performing Arts and Sport. The Creative and Performing Arts incorporates programs in Music, Dance, Drama and Visual Arts. Our music programs recognise that music education promotes discipline and self control, improves students' problem solving skills and self esteem, enhances self confidence and empathy, and is fun! We have a specialist music teacher, choirs, bands and instrument lessons. There are two dance groups and a drama ensemble that perform in Regional and State Festivals. Our sport program incorporates regular fitness, skill coordination and nurition lessons. Balgowlah Heights provides a variety of sport programs which include soccer, netball, cricket, AFL, tennis, basketball, beach volleyball and surf skills. The school has a Japanese LOTE (Languages Other Than English) program enabling all students become Asia literate. Extensive extra-curricular programs are conducted at the school. These include: Drama, Chess Club, Robotics, SRC, Debating, Public Speaking, Drama, Gardening Club, Tournament of Minds, Dance and Tae Kwon Do.
