As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Budget is delivering $3.9 billion for new and upgraded schools in Western Sydney. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.

A project is underway to upgrade Northmead Public School to replace demountable classrooms with permanent facilities and refurbish an existing building.

Progress summary

The concrete slab for the new building has been poured, and all the structural steel and roof frames are in place. The stormwater detention tank is now complete. The metal roof and solar panels have been installed, and windows are currently being installed. Internal work is underway to fit out the water and electrical services inside the new building. The outside cladding and roof over the covered walkway are also progressing well.

Next steps

In the new building, internal walls and ceilings will be put up, the outside cladding will be finished, and the covered walkway will be paved.

In the upcoming school holidays, we will begin to upgrade the schools ICT equipment to provide faster, more reliable network access to support teaching and learning. These works will involve digging trenches and laying underground cables throughout the school site. We will also upgrade the fire hydrant booster.

Refurbishment works will begin In Block A, including refreshing the Principal’s office, constructing the new sick bay, refurbishing part of the reception area, creating a new staff room, installing new doors in the corridor and converting one of the staff toilets into an accessible toilet.

These works have been scheduled to take place in the school holidays to minimise any disruption.
