Kingscliff High School

Kingscliff High School(KHS) is a co-educational comprehensive secondary school with close ties to Kingscliff TAFE. KHS draws students from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds and has an enrolment of around 1280 students taught by 100 teachers. KHS has a reputation for outstanding achievement in all areas of school life. KHS sets the highest standards for students and prospers from the positive and co-operative relationships between students and staff. Academic excellence and personal achievement are cornerstones of the school's goals. The school offers many co-curricular programs that develop high levels of maturity and success. KHS has a strong dress code. KHS is proud of its student support and welfare programs. We are committed to physical fitness and encourage students to live a healthy lifestyle. Health and PE are compulsory subjects in the Junior School. Sport is compulsory in Years 7 to11. The Arts including music, drama, dance and art are a valued part of the curriculum. KHS has excellent facilities and opportunities for practical subjects in the Technology of Applied Studies and IT and Communication fields. KHS is an exceptional school.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
