This school’s intake area is changing
As communities grow and change, the department sometimes needs to adjust local enrolment intake areas. These changes help keep enrolments balanced across schools and make sure every student can access high-quality public education in well-resourced, supportive learning environments.
The intake area is changing for all new enrolments from Term 1, 2027 to accommodate a new high school in the suburb of Medowie.
The new school in the suburb of Medowie is on track to open for Year 7 students in 2027. This means that in 2028, the school will cater for Years 7 and 8, and in 2029 will cater for Years 7, 8, and 9 and so on. The new high school will see its first Year 7-12 cohort in 2032.
Students residing in the new high school intake area will have the option to enrol at either school depending on their grade of entry and which year groups are being accepted at the new school. Students in older year groups that are not yet accommodated at the new school will still have the option of enrolling at Irrawang High School.
The new intake area is viewable via School Finder.
A new intake area will apply for students living in the Medowie High School intake area, with Year 7 enrolments commencing in the 2027 school year.
Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 will still need to apply to Irrawang High School during this time.
