Woonona High School is a comprehensive co-educational school celebrating over 50 years of quality education. Our focus of excellence, innovation and success is achieved by students having access to an extensive curriculum, enrichment classes in all year groups, a specialist creative and performing arts class, an accelerated visual arts program, extraordinary extra curricula opportunities, a broad vocational education and training program and the opportunity to undertake alternative patterns of study. Woonona High School has a strong focus on student wellbeing and student achievement. We believe there is a strong relationship between the academic, physical and emotional development of students which we see as crucial to ensuring successful educational outcomes. The school has a strong commitment to quality teaching and quality assessment with a focus upon high expectations. Woonona High School has been selected by the Department of Education to work in official partnership with the University of Wollongong on developing excellence in the field of teacher professional learning. Providing student leadership opportunities are a priority for the school with students at all levels encouraged to engage in leadership roles. We foster the idea of being part of and giving to the community and encourage all students to undertake volunteering activities within the school and wider community. Leadership and volunteering activities are supported by a strong, active Student Representative Council. Woonona High School has a proud history of high level sporting achievement across a variety of sports. In recent years we have had a number of students chosen to represent Australia and NSW in Athletics, Basketball, Netball, Cricket, Touch Football and Soccer. The school strongly reflects community expectations and productive partnerships with parents and the wider community enhances our goal of providing all students the opportunities to excel and succeed.
