The Henry Lawson High School

The Henry Lawson High School is a co-educational comprehensive school located in historic Grenfell. It has a strong tradition and reputation for excellence in academic, sporting and creative arts pursuits. As the local high school in a small rural community, it has sustained strong links with parents and the wider community. Many students travel from outside town and smaller farming communities. They are friendly, polite and readily take advantage of the many programs that the school offers, from the band and choir, a variety of sporting teams, livestock preparation programs, public speaking, drama and an active student leadership team. The school has a strong culture of high expectation and leads the way in 21st century learning practices in the areas of project-based learning, STEM, Higher Order Ways to Learn and student self-regulation. The school is well-resourced, with the Stan McCabe Oval and an outdoor learning area set within a native garden, along with the latest technology in classrooms and the newly refurbished library/resource centre, presenting a learning environment that is both cutting-edge and attractive. The school's mission statement of Challenge, Encourage, Achieve is reflected in a strong welfare policy, an active house system that recognises academic, sporting and community achievement, quality teaching and learning programs, and a strong learning support team that supports students with identified needs.
