Blakehurst High School
Blakehurst High School serves the local community as an inclusive, co-educational comprehensive high school with specialist languages status. Each year our school community evaluates and affirms the following collaboratively developed values - ensuring quality learning with the skills and attitudes of life-long learning for all students, empowering students to take responsibility for their learning and behaviour, supporting a valued, professional staff committed to continuing learning, and encouraging active and informed parent and community involvement in all areas of the school. These values have been consolidated into our 'Respect and Responsibility' charter. Students at Blakehurst High School are drawn from the primary feeder schools of Baldface, Blakehurst, Carlton South, Connells Point, Hurstville and Hurstville South. An increasing number of students seek enrolment from outside the local area drawn by the school's successes in providing comprehensive and co-educational learning. We are proud of our inclusive, harmonious learning environment which welcomes students of all abilities. Blakehurst High School prides itself on its academic and sporting achievements. The school is widely recognised as one of the best performing comprehensive high schools in the Sydney Region when HSC results are considered. The school also performs very well on the sporting field, being named as the Zone Girls Sports Champions for the past eight years. Blakehurst High School is seen as a 'lighthouse' school in the area of student wellbeing. It provides a number of leadership opportunities for the students, operating a very active Student Representative Council (SRC) and Prefect body (senior and junior). A number of biannual, overseas excursions are organised to broaden the experience of the Blakehurst High School language students.
