Gunnedah High School
Gunnedah High is a proud school situated in the New England region.The school serves the secondary students of Gunnedah, as well as the surrounding areas of Boggabri, Breeza, Mulalley, Somerton and Tambar Springs. After a period of economic decline, the local community is experiencing a financial boost with the arrival of mining companies. This should lead to increased enrolments at both the school and its partner primary schools but the school's population is currently on a small decline. Many in the community experience low socio-economic disadvantage and as a result the school is supported by the Priority Schools program, Schools in partnership and National Partnerships Low Socio Economic funding.Our school mission statement is based on five words beginning with the letter C:- Comprehensive, Curriculum Choices, Challenging, Caring and Community-Centred. The school endeavours to provide students with the broadest possible curriculum where every student is encouraged to strive for their personal best.
We recognise the Ongoing Custodians of the lands and waterways where we work and live. We pay respect to Elders past and present as ongoing teachers of knowledge, songlines and stories. We strive to ensure every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learner in NSW achieves their potential through education.
