Bathurst High Campus of Denison College of Secondary Education is a comprehensive rural high school on the traditional land of the Wiradjuri in the regional centre of Bathurst 200 km west of Sydney. Our students learn in a supportive environment, with everyone given opportunities to engage extensively with technology as a learning tool. The school offers extra assistance to students in areas of demonstrated need through its comprehensive welfare and learning assistance programs including strong anti bullying policies. In supporting the academic achievement of all our students, Bathurst High is part of an innovative college with the Kelso High Campus that incorporates a shared senior curriculum. Bathurst High offers a rich and diverse education with a wide range of sporting, cultural, vocational and academic opportunities available to all our students. Students who have completed Year 12 demonstrate that the diverse curriculum and extensive teacher support leads to successful outcomes for students as they go on to pursue university, apprenticeships or other post school education. For talented students in Years 7 and 8, the school has a separate extension class in English, Mathematics, Science and HSIE. Selection is based on a student, parent and teacher identification program. The school also supports students who wish to enrol in the Xsel Virtual selective school. For students requiring extra assistance smaller classes are available, with extra literacy and numeracy assistance from specialist teachers. The school proudly hosts a special education unit catering to students with a mild or moderate intellectual disability. These students are integrated into mainstream classes for a significant part of the curriculum.
