Hunter River Community School prides itself as a model of best practice in the education of students with special needs. All members of the learning support team are involved in a collaborative process to develop educational programs which satisfy individual needs and the learning styles of students. The school provides an environment in which positive learning enhances self esteem and personal growth. Our students experience a broad curriculum framework, utilising adaptive practices which maximise curriculum access and student achievement. A wide range of opportunities for our students to participate in sport, arts and crafts, music and community based activities ensures an appropriate balance to the curriculum. The school motto, Achieving Together is fundamental to the school's philosophy and planning. It is based on the belief that children learn best through partnerships between the students, staff, parents and the broader school community.
