Holroyd School is valued by its students, staff and community as a dynamic educational environment for students with special needs where each person's unique talents are discovered and nurtured. At Holroyd School we value: students as learners and respected  members of the wider community; staff as professionals  who  work collaboratively to meet the needs of the students and family and community partnerships that are strong and positive. Holroyd School is a large special school in New South Wales and provides personalised learning plans for students between the ages of four and eighteen years with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities and autism. It is a NSW Department of Education special school and is located in Merrylands, in Sydney's western suburbs. The school is a leader in the development of inclusive educational programs based on the NSW curriculum, with adjustments made to meet the individual learning needs of the students. The school has worked extensively with other special schools to develop and provide curriculum support, particularly in the areas of numeracy and literacy/communication. Holroyd School has also developed an exceptional learning program and teaching resources to support students' understanding of positive behaviour. The school makes use of technology to enhance student engagement and access in all curriculum areas. The school serves a diverse multicultural community, with over 88% of students having English as an additional language or dialect, with many students coming from refugee backgrounds and or low socio-economic communities. The school applies its budget to improve student engagement and learning and develop strong partnerships with families, carers and the broader community.The school provides a focal point for the provision of support services to students with disabilities, their parents and carers. Holroyd School also shares special education expertise with other schools enrolling students with disabilities and welcomes the opportunity provide this support.
