Box Hill Public School
Please consult the school website
The department is delivering additional school infrastructure in this rapidly growing area. Temporary facilities are being utilised during the 2026 and 2027 school years while the permanent Box Hill Public School and Box Hill High School are being built on Terry Road, Box Hill.
The intake areas are viewable via School Finder.
For the 2026 school year, all families living in the Box Hill Public School intake area are considered local to both Box Hill Public School and Rouse Hill Public School with a guaranteed place at either school.
For the 2027 school year, this will also include the new Gables Public School. Students living in the Box Hill Public School intake area will be considered local to Box Hill Public School, Gables Public School and Rouse Hill Public School with a guaranteed place at the school they choose.
From 2028, all families living in the Box Hill Public School intake area will be considered local ONLY to the new Box Hill Public School, which will be opening in its permanent facilities on Terry Road.
Students living in the Box Hill Public School intake area that have already enrolled at either Rouse Hill Public School or Gables Public School can stay at those schools. There is no requirement for students to change schools unless they wish to.
Families may also choose to apply for enrolment as an out-of-area (non-local) student to surrounding public schools with space. The School Finder system will show nearby schools and give an indication of their ability to accept out-of-area enrolments. This may help you decide which schools are appropriate to apply to.
There are three levels of availability to help you determine which schools have space to consider out of area enrolments:
- Local and non-local enrolment availability (green dot)
- Limited non-local enrolment availability (orange dot)
- Very limited non-local enrolment availability (gray dot)
I have a child already attending a public school. Can they stay there if I am now in a different school’s intake area?
Yes, they can. There is no change for students already attending a school.
I have a child already attending this school. Can I enrol their sibling/s at the same school?
Siblings of currently enrolled students will be assessed under the department's enrolment policy.
Families with a child currently enrolled at their local school (including any priority intake area arrangements) will retain the ability to enrol siblings at the same school, even if there are changes to the school's local intake area that make their home address non-local.

How are new school intake areas developed?
Local factors are considered to inform the development of new intake areas for example:
- enrolment trends and residential development in the area
- opportunities to align with primary school local intake areas
- public transport access
- the size and utilisation of schools
- the number of students living in each proposed intake area
- and the physical capacity of schools to enrol students.
New school,New public preschool: Box Hill Public School and Box Hill High School
As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild public education, the NSW Budget is delivering $4.1 billion for new and upgraded schools in Western Sydney. This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education. The project to deliver new permanent educational facilities in Box Hill includes a co-located public early learning, a primary school and a high school, all of which will open on Terry Road, Box Hill on Day 1 Term 1 2028. To accommodate local families and provide access to education sooner, Box Hill Public School and Box Hill High School are both now operating from temporary facilities until the permanent facilities are completed. Both schools are located on George Street, Box Hill (entrance to the High School is via Merens Street).

Maintenance
To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables
Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
