Dalmeny Public School

Dalmeny Public School, established in 2003 and set in attractive, spacious grounds is situated within the growing housing estates of Prestons, South Western Sydney. The school is committed to providing quality learning opportunities for all students within a positive, safe and supportive learning environment and promotes an active partnership between students, parents and teachers. Seventy percent of students at Dalmeny PS are from language backgrounds other than English. Classrooms are modern, well-equipped and air-conditioned and provide stimulating learning environments. The school enjoys a positive community image and benefits from the support of the school community and the staff, who are dedicated and committed to ongoing professional learning. Dalmeny PS offers a balanced and comprehensive curriculum based on the six Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and Its Environment, Creative and Practical Arts and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, with a particular focus on quality early learning, literacy, numeracy and technology programs. Class and individualised learning programs, built around the NSW Quality Teaching framework, and strong student welfare approaches further support student engagement and attainment. The school is developing a record of high-level participation and success in sport, the creative and performing arts and environmental education. Integrated individualised learning approaches for gifted and talented students and for students with learning needs are implemented, as are programs for students with English as a Second Language. Students in our three special education classes are offered a wide range of experiences including integration into whole school programs. Dalmeny PS provides a learning environment which encourages all students to develop effective self-discipline, communication, creative thinking and problem-solving skills based on the core values of New South Wales public schools which include respect, responsibility, cooperation, excellence, fairness and care.
