Hallidays Point Public School
The stated purpose of Hallidays Point Public School is to promote and maintain excellence through quality teaching and the provision of a quality learning environment within a committed community. The school operates the Friendly Schools and Families student welfare program, with our beliefs reflected in the four core values - learning, honesty, respect and teamwork. These values are inculcated into the school culture through specific teaching lessons and activities and modelled behaviour. The school has an ongoing focus on developing literacy and numeracy skills and staff are continually involved in professional development training to improve teaching practice in these vital areas. Technology use is expanding. Technology is used as an aid in the teaching of all subjects. All permanent classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and all teachers are trained in their use and continually updated in their application and range of resources. The school offers enrichment programs for talented students. Creative skills can be developed and exercised through public speaking, debating, choir, instrumental music and dance activities. There is a focus on fitness and sport. Students develop skills through a structured physical education and sport program. Participation in school and representative sporting teams is encouraged. The school is part of the Great Lakes Learning Community. Cooperation among the schools within the community facilitates a seamless education passage from preschool to Year 12 and on to tertiary education. The community also provides students with the opportunity to develop and display a wide variety of skills and talents.
