Frank Partridge VC Public School
Frank Partridge VC Public School was established in 1989 and is situated in Nambucca Heads as part of the Nambucca Valley Community of Public Schools in the Mid North Coast. The school is renowned for its thorough literacy and numeracy teaching and prides itself on providing high-quality learning experiences designed to meet the needs of all students. State-of-the-art technology is an intricate part of the daily lives of our students with Interactive white boards, i-pads and laptops in every room. Specialist technology skills are also developed through across curriclum teaching and learning opportunities supported by cutting edge technologies in all rooms. The introduction of 6 new interactive Prowise boards and a doubling of our ipad numbers has been a feature as we move forward and increase the access for all students to these technologies. Extension programs in drama, literacy, numeracy and music are offered for talented students. Innovative and highly skilled teachers who care for and nurture their students create effective learning programs, fostering a challenging, warm and happy learning environment. Additional funding is used to provide a wide range of support programs for students with identified needs. The school also provides a diverse range of extra-curricular activities such as band, school musical performances and 'Gumbaynggir' language classes. The introduction of our Positive Behaviour for Learning Program has focused on key values. Students are learning that at Frank Partridge VC Public School we do 'Our Best Always' , taking responsibility for our actions, showing respect for others, showing respect for our community and showing respect for ourselves. Innovative welfare programs are resulting in improved attendance, fewer suspension situations and improved behaviour both in the playground and in the classroom. We have also introduced a transition program for 4-5 year olds which aims to give children the best possible start to school. This program runs for 6 weeks throughout term 4 and links in closely with our community preschools. Our school is working closely with the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation and our feeder preschools to ensure staff capacity is at it's optimum. Our Building Blocks for Learning targets the basic needs of our students, screening all students K-2 in the areas of sight, hearing and speech. This program will be expanded to include whole school dental health in 2016 and our daily breakfast program ensures all students are fuelled up and ready to learn each day. The school plays an important role in the community and the new positive programs that have been introduced are effectively raising the profile and improving the outcomes of students at Frank Partridge VC Public School.
