Bradfordville Public School
Bradfordville Public School, a member of the Goulburn Community of Public Schools, has as its mission statement 'to promote a love of learning in a safe and caring environment that encourages the pursuit of excellence'. The school provides a safe and supportive, orderly and purposeful, interesting and challenging learning environment. Its curriculum has a child-centred focus that encourages a love of learning and a desire to succeed. Outstanding programs in 2018 include Language, Learning and Literacy (L3), TEN(K-2 numeracy) and Focus on Reading (years 3-6). The school has a comprehensive range of support programs to cater for individual differences and interests. These include, Learning Support, Rip It Up Reading and Peer Support. The school has high expectations for student achievement and behaviour which is reflected in a strong student welfare policy that encourages self discipline. The focus of all staff is to provide quality literacy and numeracy programs, which are supported by excellent programs in sport and fitness, and the creative and performing arts. Staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed to ongoing professional development, with a focus on improving learning outcomes for all students. All programs are supported by an innovative technology program, with all classrooms and the library fitted with interactive whiteboards and multiple computers. Students also have access to banks of IPADS and netbook computers. A video conferencing system is used regularly by both small and large groups in the hall where they can access virtual excursions. The school has performed regularly at regional and statewide events, with the choir performing in the Festival of Choral Music at the Opera House and Schools Spectacular and the primary dance ensemble performing as part of the Illawarra Region's Southern Stars. Flute and recorder groups and a K-6 dance program, including boys' hip hop and drumming, highlight the outstanding opportunities students have had access to in the performing arts. Excellent programs in sport and fitness have enabled many of our students to excel at district, regional and state level. Outstanding school grounds are maintained through an irrigation system supplied by rainwater and an underground bore. A modern library and computer lab are integral to all learning programs. Covered walkways link all school buildings and enable our students with disabilities to fully access all school facilities. In cooperation with the Bradfordville PS P&C Association, the school has provided shade cover over the sandpits and adventure playground and an upgrade to the courtyard area with a wetpour rubber surface, providing students with an outstanding play area, fully marked with basketball, netball and handball courts, as well as a large chess board. The P&C currently has as their priority the installation of a community use building, having raised over $50 000. This has been supported through a grant from Family and Community Services for a further $50 000. Installation should be completed by mid-2018.
