Campbelltown East Public School

Campbelltown East Public School (CEPS) is located on the eastern side of Campbelltown. It is a moderately sized K to 6 school with an established multicategorical support unit. In addition, the school is one of two bases for the Campbelltown/Macarthur Itinerant Support Teachers - Hearing. Our teachers are enthusiastic and dedicated professionals who support and promote student development with carefully planned, relevant and challenging learning experiences. This positive learning environment is supported by experienced and caring auxiliary staff, who efficiently manage our school and foster positive relationships with the school community. Learning and student welfare are paramount and form the basis of all that occurs at the school. Our school's purpose is to provide high quality education for all students within a safe, positive and caring environment. CEPS encourages each student to be a safe, respectful learner. A learning support program, for students in need of additional assistance, caters for students' social and academic needs. Reading Recovery, Learning and Support Teachers and English as a Second Language complement the programs implemented by classroom teachers. The school's focus areas are literacy (MultiLit and Focus on Reading - FOR), numeracy (dedicated support teachers providing an engaging 'hands on' learning environment), student engagement (Positive Behaviour for Learning - PBL) and teacher quality (Quality Teaching Framework). CEPS is part of the 'National Partnerships Low SES' program. This program aims to improve student learning outcomes, using strategies that are modified to the particular needs of our school community. Through this partnership, strategies that are both innovative and sustainable are being developed to address the education reform agenda. Our school is also implementing the 'Best Start' program. This program involves assessing all kindergarten students, informing parents of their child's abilities, and providing valuable data to inform and assist teachers with their Teaching and Learning programs. We provide a transition to school program to prepare children and parents for Kindergarten. The school's facilities offer a fully equipped hall, air-conditioned classrooms, a COLA, a large playing field, a computer laboratory and interactive whiteboards in all classrooms. An Out Of School Hours care facility also operates for the community.
