Blacktown South Public School
Blacktown South Public School serves a diverse local community and provides a range of educational opportunities for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In catering for this diversity the school provides quality teaching programs for all students, inclusive of those from Aboriginal and multicultural backgrounds, and produces outstanding student outcomes. An OC Unit is established for academically gifted children in Years 5 and 6 and support is provided for students with English as a second language and students with identified learning needs. Our main focus is on student competencies in the Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and Its Environment, Creative and Practical Arts, as well as Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. In addition, the school has a proud history in providing a wide range of opportunities for students in performing arts and sport as well as placing a strong emphasis on student welfare and leadership. Our students celebrate their successes in University Academic Challenges for Primary Schools, inter-school competitions in athletics, swimming and cross-country running, as well as in Zone debating and Public Speaking. Interactive Whiteboards, Touchscreen panels and an integrated computer network connect students to the world of learning. The school has been serving our community for over 50 years and we are proud to not only welcome new families enrolling their children for the first time, but those whose parents and grandparents enjoyed their Primary Schooling at this school. Learning excursions provide first-hand experiences in many areas of the curriculum and our students are given the opportunity to perform at the Opera House Concerts, Schools Spectacular, Regional Dance, Music and Drama Festivals. Blacktown South Public School promotes traditional values in partnership with our local community and encourages every student to Strive to Achieve.
