Eastwood Heights Public School is located in the northern suburbs of Sydney. The school has an enrolment of 453 students. The school takes pride in its richly diverse school community. Students from language backgrounds other than English form 65% of the school population with the main language groups being Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean. The school has a reputation in the community for being a welcoming school which provides strong academic programs balanced with an important emphasis on student wellbeing. The school prides itself on offering a broad, balanced curriculum that ensures both breadth and depth in students' learning. Learning encompasses the traditional disciplines, as well as fundamental skills of literacy and numeracy and a broader set of future-focussed skills that support students to become successful lifelong learners, confident and creative individuals, active and informed citizens.Staff hold high expectations for all students to make personal progress in their learning, while being supported in a safe and respectful learning environment. The school actively promotes education as a collaborative process and partners closely with parents/carers, students and the wider school community. The P&C is the school's key consultative body that represents the interests and views of the school's parents and carers. The P&C works closely with the school's leadership team in strategic planning and in maintaining up-to-date and evidence-based policies.The Student Representative Council actively organise and advocate for students to participate in broader school planning and activity. The school has an active Learning Support Team, whose key initiatives include a targeted English language learning program (for students from non-English speaking backgrounds). We offer a broad range of extracurricular activities and programs that target students' specific interest areas, including bands, dance groups, choirs, sporting groups and public speaking.
