Revesby South Public School
Revesby South Public School strives to make the world a better place by enabling excellence and equity, fostering creativity and curiosity and inspiring innovation, so students can be successful and actively informed thinkers for a rapidly changing world. The three overriding priorities of the school are raising educational standards, celebrating creativity and innovation in all aspects of school life and equipping students to make informed decisions that meet the values of Australian society. Seen locally as a 'community focussed' school, resources and programs are tailored to meet individual needs. The supportive culture of the school is exemplified in the collegial approach to professional development of staff members and the involvement of parents in Literacy and Numeracy Information and Training Programs. Revesby South Public School focuses on the development and growth of the whole child including academic, social/emotional, cultural and physical aspects of learning. The school provides specialist support (including speech patholgist and occupational therapist) for a number of students with special needs being integrated into the school. It also extends and caters for gifted and high performing students in a number of programs in partnership with local high schools. The school has an effective welfare and discipline program (Positive Behaviour for Learning) with a focus on social skills, decision-making and citizenship. The core values of the school are reflected in the school rules with a focus on 'Being Safe', 'Being Respectful' and 'Being an Active Learner'. Parents make valued contributions to the educational and managerial aspects of the school at all levels. The Parents and Citizens Association is a key partner in the implementation of the School Plan and assists in improving the school's infrastructure and resources. The school is well resourced with a modern school library, play equipment and fitness equipment areas, flexible learning spaces (STEM Hub) including green school room, greenhouse classroom, synthetic soccer pitch and cricket nets, air-conditioned classrooms, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, computer lab, mobile computer labs, iPads, school hall and covered and open outdoor learning areas that includes student gardens and chicken coop.
