Hilltop Road Public School situated in the Western Sydney region. The community represents over 23 cultural groups, including 70% from a non-English speaking background. A dynamic and dedicated staff work closely with the community, to promote a positive and engaging learning environment. The school's vision recognises the school as a community of learners, where all stakeholders are engaged in authentic learning experiences. The highly professional, cohesive staff is committed to professional learning, collaborative planning and team work and designing learning that inspires students to succeed in an inclusive environment. Hilltop Road Public School nurtures individual difference and develops rich and authentic programs that prepare students to be active members of the global community. A focus on Project Based Learning, Discovery Time, student engaged assessment, quality literacy and numeracy programs and curriculum differentiation is at the forefront of the schools practice. Staff are also committed to developing the students' ability to articulate their learning and know themselves as a learner. These practices are enhanced through innovative information and communication technologies. Hilltop Road Public School is a leader of embedding innovative technology in education. The school utilises a range of technology in our learning environments to enable our students to become effective 21st century learners. Every student has their own XO laptop through the One Laptop Per Child initiative and has access to iPads, Macbooks and robotic equipment. Parental involvement is recognised as a vital link in the partnership between home, school and the community. We embrace the diversity of the school community and the cultural richness that it provides. The school's Community Liaison Officer supports families in the school through a variety of initiatives including; transition to Kindergarten and high school, parent workshops catered to their interests and needs, playgroup and TAFE Outreach programs. Hilltop Road Public School recognises and values partnerships with parents, community and industry, promoting their involvement in all aspects of school life. A strong sense of belonging and pride is evident amongst students, staff and families. A strong partnership exists between students, parents and staff, characterised by trust, support and cooperation. A strong student welfare and wellbeing program is evident in all aspects of school life and underpins all quality teaching learning experiences. Student wellbeing is supported through Kids Matter, Positive Behaviour for Learning and Bounce Back. This ensures students succeed in a safe and inclusive learning environment. Students also support each other through programs such Buddies and Play Leaders. Our school has a proud tradition of excellence in performing arts and sport. Students achieve success in a rich diversity of experiences including choir, dance, debating and PSSA.

Cooler Classrooms Program

The NSW Government is committed to providing students with healthy and comfortable learning environments. That’s why we’ve invested a record $500 million to provide a sustainable air conditioning program for NSW schools.

To ensure the NSW Government responds to the needs of students in the hottest parts of the State, we will provide air conditioning in classrooms and libraries at schools that experience a mean maximum January temperature of 30°C and above.

Schools that sit below 30°C will be able to apply for funding to receive air conditioning in their classrooms and libraries, allowing more schools to benefit from air conditioning than ever before.

This school is eligible to apply for funding through the Cooler Classrooms Program. Applications for the second round of funding are now closed.
