Collaroy Plateau Public School is situated at the heart of the Northern Beaches, located high on the plateau in an open, inviting and natural bush setting. Established in 1954, we value and enjoy strong community involvement and partnerships between students, teachers and parents. 'Striving for Excellence' is the school ethos, which translates into providing quality education and a diverse range of opportunities for students. Our core values are to help students develop high standards of academic excellence commensurate with each student's abilities and aptitudes, positive participation in all Key Learning Areas, a love of learning and a greater independence in their learning. This school’s intake area is changing

At times it is necessary for the department to adjust a school’s local enrolment area. Intake area changes are happening to better balance enrolments, utilisation of assets and capacity across schools, ensuring students continue to have access to high-quality public education.

The intake area is changing for all new enrolments from 2025.

The new intake area is viewable via School Finder .

A transition period will be in place for affected families for the 2026 school year. During this transition period families in the identified areas of change will be considered local to both Collaroy Plateau PS and Wheeler Heights PS, depending on their place of residence, with the option to enrol at either.

From 2027 the option to enrol at either school will no longer apply, and families will only be guaranteed enrolment at their new local school.

I have a child already attending this school. Can they stay there if I am now in a different school’s intake area?

Yes, they can. There is no change for students already attending this school.

I have a child already attending this school. Can I enrol their sibling/s at the same school?

Siblings of currently enrolled students will be assessed under the departments enrolment policy .

Families with a child currently enrolled at their assigned local school will retain the ability to enrol siblings at the same school, even if there are changes to the intake area boundaries that make their home address out-of-area.

How are new intake areas developed?

Many factors are considered to inform the development of new intake areas for example:

- enrolment trends

- opportunities to align with primary school local intake areas

- public transport access

- the size and utilisation rate of schools

- the number of students living in each proposed intake area

- and the physical capacity of schools to enrol students

LED Upgrade

The $157.8 million LED Lighting Upgrade Program will install new LED lights in up to 1,000 public schools across NSW. This means reduced operating costs for schools and improved learning environments and outcomes for our students.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Schools Renewal

The $240 million Schools Renewal Program aims to accelerate projects that will improve the amenity of schools and kick start local jobs for local communities. This is a co-funded program, with each school contributing up to 50 per cent of the project cost.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
