Tighes Hill Public School

Tighes Hill Public School has an enrolment of 370 students and is located in an inner city suburb of Newcastle in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. The school has a dynamic learning community with dedicated staff committed to continual improvement of student learning outcomes through quality teaching practices and programs. The school priority areas are literacy, numeracy, technology and innovative professional learning. The school is committed to Language, Learning and Literacy (L3), Focus on Reading (FoR), Targeting Early Numeracy (TEN), English as a Second Language, Kindy Club (a weekly pre-Kindergarten school preparation program), Band & Music tuition, School Aerobics, Sporting teams and individual plans for supported students. Our opportunity class provides extension programs for gifted students. The school is dedicated to engaging 21st Century learners through embedded technologies across all curriculum areas. Heritage Stonework Program

Our school has been chosen as a priority site in the Department of Education’s Heritage Stonework Program. As part of the Department’s obligations under section 170 of the Heritage Act 1977, significant heritage school buildings must be carefully conserved so they remain safe and functional for generations to come.
