Stockton Public School
Stockton Public School established in 1861 serves a small diverse community of wide ranging socio-economic circumstances and is located on a peninsula on the northern side of Newcastle Harbour. It is a welcoming and friendly school with dedicated staff providing Quality Teaching and Learning programs for all students from Preschool to Year 6. Strong partnerships have been established with the community and there is an active parent body that works tirelessly to enhance students' learning experience and environment. There is a strong focus on developing the whole child academically, socially and emotionally and the school actively encourages students to reach their full potential through a co-operative, caring learning environment. Technology is a priority at the school, with a focus on future focused pedagogy and creative endeavours. Student wellbeing is also a priority, where staff and students use the 3 key values of our Positive Behaviour For Learning: United, Safe , Engaged. There is also a Departmental Preschool and a Before and After School Care Centre located within the grounds. Students have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through our Junior PBL team. We have a strong focus on developing the whole child academically, socially, culturally and emotionally by providing a variety of extra curricula opportunities such as Public Speaking, a coding club, a gardening club to maintain our extensive vegetable garden and chicken coop, enviro rangers who pormote sustainability initiatives within our school, as well as comprehensive sporting programs and involvement in Creative Arts activities such as camps, workshops and productions. Students are able to participate in various excursions and camps which enhance their learning experiences.
