Punchbowl Public School has high expectations for all and encourages students to become independent, successful, life long learners. The school serves a socially and economically diverse multicultural community, with 98% of students having a language background other than English. 8% of students are from refugee backgrounds. A broad range of language groups are represented at the school with the largest coming from Arabic, Bengali, Pacific Island and Indonesian backgrounds. Punchbowl Public School has a K-6 enrolment of approximately 520 students, with an additional 80 students in the preschool and 32 students in the early intervention preschool and 2 K-6 Autism classes. Quality teaching and learning is our number one priority and students are supported by English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) teachers, Learning and Support Teachers (LaSTs), an Arabic Community Languages program and two specialist Instructional Leaders employed through Early Action for Success (EAfS). The responsibility of the Instructional Leaders is to build capacity in teachers' ability to teach literacy and numeracy.  Our school has seen siginficant educational gains in the past two years from kindergarten to year 2 and we are seeing the results of this hard work in value add NAPLAN results from kindergarten to year 3.  Punchbowl Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school and the team lead the development and implementation of programs to support the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of students. The school employs an Assistant Principal, Student Learning and Wellbeing, School Learning and Support Officers (SLSOs), a Speech Pathologist and a registered Psychologist. The school employs a Community Liaison Officer (CLO) to assist in developing and maintaining the highly valued and visible parent, school and community partnerships.    The school maintains a strong partnership with parents and the community through an active Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association and facilitates many targeted parent programs through its School as Community Centre (SaCC).  The school welcomes all enquiries and looks forward to warmly welcoming you.
