Nambucca Heads Public School

Welcome to Nambucca Heads Primary School. Established in 1884 our school is located within the Nambucca Heads town centre, close to attractive beaches and rain forest areas. Our school features well-equipped classrooms, school hall, library, a connected classroom, a computer laboratory and interactive whiteboards in all classrooms. Our school has a strong focus on values education, a balanced healthy lifestyle, public speaking, debating and student leadership. These opportunities underpin the rich, stimulating learning environment in which our students learn and grow. The school has, excellent academic programs that demonstrate a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, technology, sports and the arts. Students at our school thrive in a fun learning environment where respect and tolerance are greatly valued. Our school’s highly qualified teachers provide a caring and nurturing atmosphere where the individual needs of the students are the priority. We aim to keep our parents well informed. Newsletters are issued weekly and special notes are dispatched when required for such things as excursions or changes to school or class routine. An outstanding gifted and talented program centred on public speaking and debating skills enabled our students to achieve regional recognition in the state Multicultural Public Speaking Competition and the State Debating Competition in 2011. As well, the school's Tournament of Minds team were awarded "Tournament Honours" in the state finals of the Mathematics Engineering section in 2011. The school will receive PSP funding for the next year and National Partnership funding for the next two years. We also receive support for Indigenous students, parents and community through the Schools in Partnership (SiP) initiative. The SiP initiative is a joint initiative with Nambucca Heads High School. The school has an active Parents and Citizens Association and Aboriginal Parent Group who assist in fostering successful partnerships between the school and wider community.
