Mona Vale Public School

Mona Vale PS is a large, dynamic, and energetic school. Located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, our school is well known for our inclusive and caring culture and exceptional support for students who require adjustments for additional learning needs, as well as opportunities for students who have high potential or giftedness (HPGE). We host three Support Classes for students with additional learning needs, and two Opportunity Classes for academically gifted students. Our school employs two part time HPGE mentors who work in classrooms across the week, supporting or withdrawing students for extension in areas of academic strength. Our student enrolment is representative of 38 language groups. English is the main language spoken by students. A very small percentage of students require EAL/D support in Years 3-6. We are active members of the Gawura Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). Celebrating the diversity of our community is a key initiative in our 2021-2024 Strategic Improvement Plan. The Mona Vale community is proud of the school's heritage and reputation for excellence of learning and extra-curricular programs for students. Students can explore and develop as musicians, dancers, in chess and public speaking, debating and on the sporting field. We employ specialist teachers in music and PDHPE. A school major capital works project completed in 2023 provided us with 23 new or refurbished learning spaces; a Performing Arts Centre; library; canteen and play areas. Our new build provides opportunities for strategic use of the physical environment where students can actively and autonomously interact and learn in and from purpose-built spaces. We benefit from a supportive and active Parents and Citizens Association and an interested and passionate parent community who regularly support the activities of the school and engage as decision makers.
