Mayfield East Public School
Established in 1858, the school has served its community across three centuries. It has strong local support and nurtures a sense of belonging and involvement. Students are offered a diverse range of learning and cultural experiences, with a focus on the creative and performing arts. Innovative literacy and numeracy programs have resulted in significant improvements in student learning. The staff and community work in a successful partnership aimed at maximising student's educational and social outcomes, with a focus on developing the whole child. An on-going development of school programs in the areas of literacy, numeracy, resilience building and community involvement, has resulted in higher expectations and levels of engagement for students across the school. The school is the centre of a broader learning community which is dynamic and undergoing significant change at present. The suburb of Mayfield is located close to the inner city of Newcastle. It has a diverse community with a growing number of younger families which is boosting the school population. Mayfield East Public School is a vibrant, active place where stimulating activities abound.
