Lawson Public School

Lawson Public School is situated in the picturesque Blue Mountains World Heritage area and was established in 1888.  Today it is a vibrant learning environment with a population of approximately 225 students. Our vision is to provide creative, caring, quality education which enables all students to reach their full potential. Innovative academic programs, extremely dedicated staff and state of the art facilities ensure that children receive the best start in their education. Our excellent support programs allow us to cater for students with additional needs, offering them an inclusive education. All students have access to extensive digital resources, including interactive whiteboards in 100% of classrooms, wireless networks, laptop and ipad trolleys will sufficient devices to accommodate every child in the class. As a Kids Matter school, we provide outstanding programs around social/emotional wellbeing and student welfare.  We foster an environment in which all members of the school community feel valued and respected. Exemplary programs in performing arts including our school concert band, dance group and choir as well as an artist in residence program are offered to all students. Healthy active lifestyles are developed through the crunch and sip program, daily physical education, carnivals and successful sporting teams.  The construction of a multi-purpose hardcourt within our picturesque school grounds resulted in the establishment of school soccer, basketball, netball and newcombe ball teams.  We maintain a strong focus on environmental education and sustainability, with the introduction of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program this year.  Our state of the art Kitchen Classroom accommodates an entire class, with ample cooking stations, food preparation areas and wash stations.  Fresh produce from our kitchen garden is utilised in the kitchen.
