Kingswood Public School, established in 1892, has a proud legacy of inspiring excellence and serving generations of learners within the local community. This school’s intake area is changing

As communities grow and change, the department sometimes needs to adjust local enrolment intake areas. These changes help keep enrolments balanced across schools and make sure every student can access high-quality public education in well-resourced, supportive learning environments.

The intake area is changing for all new enrolments from January 2026.

The new intake area is viewable via School Finder.

Transition Phase

A transition period will be in place for affected families with primary aged children for the 2026 school year. During this transition period families in the identified areas of change may be considered local to two primary schools with the option to enrol at either. There is no transition period for secondary students with all changes applied immediately.

From 2027 the option to enrol at either school will no longer apply, and families will only be guaranteed enrolment at their new local school.

I have a child already attending this school. Can they stay there if I am now in a different school’s intake area?

Yes, they can. There is no change for students already attending this school.

I have a child already attending this school. Can I enrol their sibling/s at the same school?

Siblings of currently enrolled students will be assessed under the departments enrolment policy .

Families with a child currently enrolled at their assigned local school will retain the ability to enrol siblings at the same school, even if there are changes to the intake area boundaries that make their home address out-of-area.

How are new intake areas developed?

Many factors are considered to inform the development of new intake areas for example:

- enrolment trends

- opportunities to align with primary school local intake areas

- public transport access

- the size and utilisation rate of schools

- the number of students living in each proposed intake area

- and the physical capacity of schools to enrol students

Upgrade: Kingswood Public School upgrade completed project

The upgrade to Kingswood Public School is now complete. The project delivered: 8 new permanent classrooms 2 learning commons 2 multipurpose spaces new walkways and landscaping refurbishment works to 13 classrooms, in addition to 2 rooms in the heritage building.

Maintenance

To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables

Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
