Gunnedah Public School
Gunnedah Public School provides students with quality educational programs delivered by highly qualified and dedicated teachers. The strong academic focus of the school will ensure that your child will enjoy unique opportunities that challenge and extend their learning. As a 'You Can Do It' school, Gunnedah Public promotes the five keys to success which are: confidence, resilience, persistence, getting along and organisation. This program is reinforced throughout the school in classroom programs and in the school's awards and rewards system. The school is quite unique, having an Aboriginal enrolment of over 50%. Many programs are implemented to promote literacy and numeracy learning within the school. In mathematics, the Quick Smart mathematics program is implemented in years 5 and 6 to improve the speed and accuracy of student computations. Accelerated Literacy is being implemented in all classrooms within the school and teachers receive ongoing professional learning in this area. Reading Recovery, Early School Support and Early Language Intervention all support younger learners. Gunnedah Public School is also supported by the Priority Action Schools Program, PSP and the National Partnerships Program.
