Drummond Memorial Public School

Welcome to Drummond Memorial Public School, which is situated on the western edge of Armidale and caters for  186 students including 48% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 35% EAL/D students from 10 different countries. Our school has been noted for its capacity to be a highly inclusive and deeply caring school with considerable expertise in catering for a complex mix of students. The school is well known for its care and concern for students. Our agreed purpose is to meet the individual needs of all children through the setting of high expectations in all aspects of personal growth.  All children at Drummond learn how to value and embrace the differences in each other resulting in a most respectful and happy school tone.  The teaching and support staff of Drummond are extremely dedicated and very experienced in identifying and meeting the individual learning needs of each student. This has been evidenced by the consistent levels of individual student growth achieved each year as measured by both in-school and external assessment programs. Our school is renowned for its welcoming and friendly culture and for the very strong partnership it shares with parents / carers and members of the wider community. Cutting edge technology is embedded in all learning experiences with students having access to ICT equipment in their classroom, and regular lessons and access to our Spike Lab - Maker Space.  An explicit collaborative whole school strategy ensures continuous growth for all students in all areas especially literacy and numeracy. Some unique and successful programs at Drummond M.P.S include Transition to Kindergarten class, an Early Intervention and Multi-Categorical class, English as a Second language -(ESL) teachers, specialised sport programs, a Learning Support teacher, In-class tutors, Breakfast Club, daily P.E, a vegetable garden and technology lab and  interactive smart boards in every classroom. The school provides a diverse range of programs including our new Play Based learning program which is focusing on effective learning skills, remediation and extension, working effectively in partnership with parents and the wider school community. Our school environment provides a stimulating catalyst for learning with state-of-the-art classrooms and an outside environment which ensures the comfort of all children which further enhances learning opportunities and promotes school pride.
