A construction zone has been established with temporary fencing to separate the school from the work area. Temporary solid plywood hoarding has also been installed along high-foot-traffic areas within the school grounds, including near the covered outdoor learning area and school entrances. The hoarding provides a robust physical barrier between the construction site and school areas, particularly during peak periods, while allowing construction to progress.
Internal demolition of Building A is underway, alongside earthworks to prepare the site for the new preschool, including excavation, soil preparation, and installation of concrete footings.
Managing impacts during construction
Construction can be disruptive and we thank you for your patience while we complete this important preschool project. We are committed to minimising any impact on the school and surrounding community, including:
- Noise management: Noisy work has been scheduled to avoid peak school periods where possible. For example, demolition, saw cutting, or machinery operation will be limited during school drop-off and pick-up times.
- Dust control: Concrete cutting and other dust-generating activities are dampened with water, and site operations are managed to reduce dust and debris.
- Site separation: All machinery operates within designated exclusion zones, separated from school grounds and pedestrian areas.
- Works notifications: We will issue regular notifications during the construction of the preschool to keep the community informed of the progress and upcoming onsite activities.
The health, safety, and wellbeing of the school and local community is our highest priority. All construction activities on site are subject to formal risk assessment, supervision and WHS oversight. No works proceed without appropriate planning and approval.
