Box Hill High School
Please consult the school website
The department is working to deliver additional school infrastructure in this rapidly growing area. To manage enrolment demand in the short term whilst these upgrades are being delivered, adjustments to intake areas are being implemented.
Temporary facilities will be utilised for the 2026 and 2027 school years until a permanent high school is delivered in the suburb of Box Hill. This will allow the department to manage the rapid growth in the area and ensure students continue to have access to high-quality public education.
A temporary High School will open on George Street, Box Hill for Day 1, Term 1, 2026. Until this time families within the intake area are guaranteed a place at Rouse Hill High School.
The new intake area will apply for Year 7 enrolments commencing in the 2026 school year. For more information about the new Box Hill High School please visit the school project page.
The new intake area is viewable via School Finder .
How do I know which school I am assigned to?
Families who wish to enrol their children at Rouse Hill High School can continue to do so, and families within the intake area will be guaranteed a place at the school.
Families living in the Box Hill High School intake area can apply for enrolment via the normal online enrolment process.
For 2026 the Box Hill High School will open to Year 7 only. Years 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 will still need to apply to Rouse Hill High School during this time.
For 2027 the school will open to Year 7 & Year 8.
Years 9, 10, 11 & 12 will still need to apply to Rouse Hill High School during this time.
All applications will be considered in line with the Department of Education's Enrolment Policy which will give preference to families living close to the school and consider families unique circumstances wherever possible.
I have a child already attending a school. Can they stay there if I am now in a different school’s intake area?
Yes, they can. There is no change for students already attending this school.
I have a child already attending a school. Can I enrol their sibling/s at the same school?
Siblings of currently enrolled students will be assessed under the departments enrolment policy .
Families with a child currently enrolled at their assigned local school will retain the ability to enrol siblings at the same school, even if there are changes to the intake area boundaries that make their home address out-of-area.
How are new intake areas developed?
Many factors are considered to inform the development of new intake areas for example:
- enrolment trends
- opportunities to align with primary school local intake areas
- public transport access
- the size and utilisation rate of schools
- the number of students living in each proposed intake area
- and the physical capacity of schools to enrol students
Maintenance
To ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of our schools, every school across NSW receives maintenance. The Department undertakes preventative and routine maintenance every year, and repairs as needed. The Department also reviews the planned maintenance program for each school every year and reviews those items that are predicted to require work to help prolong the life of the school buildings and facilities.

Demountables
Demountables have been part of the NSW education system for many decades and will continue to be used across the state. Demountable classrooms are modern, air-conditioned rooms that provide students and teaching staff with excellent quality facilities. The learning spaces have the same range of technology that is available in permanent spaces. We review school accommodation needs each year, looking at changing enrolment patterns and other factors to prepare for the upcoming school year. This helps to identify schools that need new demountables and schools where they can removed. Most demountable movement takes place between October and February and we report our annual demountable statistics each April. Additional demountable installations can occur outside this window to support capital works and maintenance projects in schools or emergency responses to natural disasters.
