Marrickville High School

Marrickville High School is a co-educational 7-12 community high school providing exceptional learning opportunities for all. Our school's ethos is built on a strong tradition of inclusivity and diversity, with strong ties to feeder schools and the broader community.  We value every student equally and we have an Intensive English Centre (IEC) and a Support Unit on site. Parental commitment to our school is evident in our growing and active P&C. Our highly skilled and motivated teachers deliver quality educational programs with a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and ICT. The staff have a range of experience that ensures that all aspects of school life are vibrant with a culture of high expectations and excellence of student achievement. Our school is a caring and safe place of learning.  Our, wellbeing initiatives focus on proactively supporting all students in improving their learning and ensuring they feel connected to their school community. We are committed to providing a wide range of opportunities for students to extend their skills across subjects and in extracurricular activities. The focus of stage 4 and 5 is on literacy and numeracy skills and integrates computer technology across the curriculum. Senior students have a full range of subjects to choose from. Wellbeing and engagement programs at our school include student leadership and school and community service, strong links with the University of Sydney and the University of NSW, a Peer Support program and the chance to participate in friendship groups and social activities with Social Inc. Our Homework Club draws on our partnerships with universities to offer our students a weekly academic tutoring service. Our school boasts excellent facilities especially in the integration of technology across classrooms with 23 interactive whiteboards engaging students in 21st century learning. Our grounds are extensive and include two full football fields, two basketball courts and a fully-equipped gymnasium.  Our students participate in in-school sport, sporting competitions between our local network of schools, and achieve representation at zone, regional and state levels in sports as diverse as basketball, OzTag and Athletics. Our school is a leader in technology and applied science (TAS) with state of the art facilities including a 3D printer and CNC milling machine and a fully-equipped commercial kitchen. Our involvement in the global F1 in Schools program is further developing our expertise in cutting-edge design and technology. The creative and performing arts have a strong foundation in our school.  Students have the opportunity to perform in choral groups, our brass band or one of several hip-hop or rock bands. Our Creative Writing, Public Speaking and Debating Clubs give our students the opportunity to develop their writing and public speaking skills in state-wide competitions and festivals while Drama and Visual Arts facilities include a professional performance space, dark room and digital media lab.
