Sydney Secondary College Leichhardt Campus is a co-educational years 7 to 10 campus of Sydney Secondary College, an innovative multi-campus facility. The college provides excellent public education based on quality, opportunity and diversity. Leichhardt Campus specialises in middle schooling programs that focus on the academic and social-emotional development of adolescent students. We are committed to meeting the individual learning needs of all students through strong partnerships between students, teachers and parents. Leichhardt has a selective stream of two classes in each year for academically gifted students. Comprehensive classes in each year cater for the diverse talents of a broad range of students. A special education stream of four classes offers educational opportunity for students with autism and intellectual disability. We have a school culture that is supportive, based on respect and personal responsibilityfor learning within a culture of high expectations. The school has consistently achieved strong academic results and sustained excellent growth in NAPLAN. Our student well-being team ensures that our students access supportive and strength based programs, building on student resilience. The diversity of students from a multiplicity of cultural backgrounds creates a vibrant and inclusive environment. Wide and innovative curriculum choices in years 9 and 10 cater for student interest and engagement. Career pathways are mapped for students through the provision of individual career interviews and a strong year 10 transition program to the senior campus. A key feature of our middle school is to provide opportunities for enrichment through an extensive co-curricular program open to all students. This includes a dynamic and creative performing arts program with regular theatrical productions, a strong tradition in grade sport, a talented athletes program, involvement in state and national academic and sporting competitions, chess, debating, theatresports, social justice and student leadership. An outstanding Instrumental Music Program harnesses student talent from across the three campuses. Student leadership opportunities are encouraged through a variety of programs including SRC, peer support, prefects and school captains. Leichhardt Campus provides a technologically modern and stimulating learning environment that provides rich opportunity for all students to reach their potential.
