Davidson High School

Davidson High School is a comprehensive, co-educational and inclusive secondary school that provides an education for 800 students on the Northern Beaches of New South Wales. We believe that by working strategically and collaboratively we will inspire and develop future focused students who are active and connected learners and critical and creative thinkers.We value responsibility, care and respect for others, a fair go for all, performing at one's best, inclusion, trust, honesty, freedom and being ethical. Davidson High School has developed a reputation for excellence in all areas of student endeavour. Its strong academic emphasis has seen the school consistently achieve ATARS in the high nineties including 99.25 in 2013.These results are complemented by unique academic features of the school which include: an innovative GATEway extension program for Year 7; the provision of thinking and learning skills as a timetabled subject; and an after school program to develop research, homework and study skills. Davidson's Learning Support Team provides individual learning programs for students, with individual tuition offered to improve results.  A community school, Davidson High School is committed to providing an inclusive educational environment that is supportive, innovative and engaging.The school is gender balanced and shares a close relationship with its partner schools. It is committed to providing an educational environment that challenges and inspires each child to achieve their personal potential. A diverse curriculum is provided including a wide range of extra curricula activities. The school fosters positive partnerships with parents, partner primary schools and the local community. The school is highly valued and supported by its community. Students are provided with many opportunities to represent and participate in a range of areas including the performing arts, sport, leadership, specialised clubs and intercultural exchange. The school offers a creative performing arts program in music, dance and drama which allows students to represent the school at state and regional festivals, eisteddfods and international performance engagements. Leadership opportunities are offered through peer mentoring, the Students' Representative Council, The Leadership Challenge for Yrs 7, 9 and 11 and the Senior Leadership Team including the Prefects and School Captains. Students are engaged in a broad range of school and charitable activities with a strong emphasis placed upon volunteering. Extracurricular activities include public speaking, the ecological club, chess club, Minecraft extension, book club and journalism as well as the Model United Nations Assembly. Sport has a high profile at Davidson with recent successes including state baseball competitions as well as representation in Rugby League and Rugby Union. Davidson's sports program has a good balance of team, grade, individual and recreational sport. Davidson offers a full range of CHS knockout sports and opportunities to represent the zone, region and state in a variety of sports. If students have ability in elite company, there is a pathway to representation at the highest levels. The school has a committed staff with a mix of experienced and early career teachers. The senior executive, executive and teachers are strongly committed to collaboration, professional learning and dialogue amongst staff. There is a diverse and inclusive curriculum including a dedicated elective line for critical and creative thinking in stage 5 and an enrichment program in stage 4 to develop the key skills for future focused learners. We are a member of the Warringah Community of Schools which is newly established and works in partnership on a number of projects. The school has a PBEL program operating which focuses on Respect, Responsibility and Effort as the cornerstone of our welfare program.Current school priorities include quality teaching and learning, strategic feedback, community partnerships, leadership development and a innovative curriculum.
