New Sylvania High School intake area for 2026
From Term 1 2026, James Cook Boys Technology High School and Moorefield Girls High School will transition to a new co-educational school for Year 7-12, named Bayside High School.
A new intake area for Bayside High School will be required from 2026. This means changes to the intake areas of Kogarah High School and Sylvania High School.
The updates provide improved alignment between primary schools and high schools, enabling more students to move from primary school to high school with their peers.
The changes affect new enrolment applications for 2026. Please refer to the questions below for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions
I have a child already attending one of these schools, can they stay there even if I am now in a new intake area?
Yes, they can.
Will siblings have to attend different schools when the intake area changes?
If you live in an area undergoing a change and already have a child or children enrolled at a public school, they can remain at that school. You can also enrol siblings at the same school under the standard enrolment policies, regardless of the new intake area boundaries.
Can I enrol my child at a different school that I am not in the intake area for?
Non-local enrolment applications for students are considered on a case-by-case basis in line with the department’s enrolment policy.
How were the new co-educational high school intake areas developed?
The new intake areas have been developed through a consultative process with schools and communities. Several factors were considered to inform the development of the new intake areas including enrolment trends; public transport access; the size and utilisation rate of co-educational high schools; the number of students living in each proposed intake area; the proportion of students who historically enrol in either single-sex or co-educational schools; opportunities to align with primary school intake areas; and the capacity of co-educational schools to enrol students. Strong support was found for co-education with 65% of primary school parents and carers in the area preferring co-educational settings.
