Tumbarumba High School

Tumbarumba is a picturesque town situated in the Southern Highlands of NSW, with a population of approximately 2000. We are well located one hour from the city of Wagga Wagga and approximately halfway between Melbourne and Sydney. The town has a flourishing tourism industry and a depth of employment opportunities through the timber industry and associated activities. Hyne Timber Mill is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, providing a wide range of skilled and non-skilled opportunities for employment. Tumbarumba HS is a small comprehensive high school which offers a broad curriculum to its students. The school has forged close links with our partner primary schools and attract the vast majority of students from these schools. A key focus of the school is the development of literacy and numeracy skills in our students through the quality of our teaching. Our students and staff have embraced technology and regularly utilise their learning devices and Interactive Technologies to create rich, stimulating learning environments, aimed at developing deep knowledge and understanding of key concepts. Tumbarumba HS is a proud member of the Riverina Highlands Learning Community - a cluster of schools including Batlow Technology School, Gundagai HS and Tumut HS - who broaden their respective senior curriculum through sharing of specialist teaching resources via videoconferencing. Our students and staff are supported by CAP and constantly strive to achieve a high standard of academic, vocational and sporting outcomes. A significant proportion of Year 12 leavers enter a tertiary education at the completion of their HSC.
