Figtree High School

Figtree High School is a proud NSW Department of Education and Communities comprehensive public high school. It is situated south west of Wollongong. The school was established in 1969 but it did not move to its current site until 1970. Our values of Respect, Safety and Learning are reflected in all aspects of school life. At Figtree High School the students reach their potential through a positive well-balanced and challenging school curriculum. The teachers and support staff at Figtree High School are recognised for their expertise in providing quality teaching and learning programs. The staff and students are the recipients of educational awards for excellence at national, state and local levels through government, private and tertiary institutions. On many occasions, throughout many years, the students have gained recognition as NSW Higher School Certificate distinguished achievers. They have represented the NSW Department of Education and Communities through excellence in academic, creative arts, sporting and cultural pursuits at international, national and state levels. Figtree High School offers students an extensive range of electives and the opportunity to enter a wide variety of academic and sporting competitions, volunteering, scholarships and extra curricula activities. The school's welfare program is extensive and consists of numerous school developed support programs, an effective learning support program, a school camps program, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and the Positive Behaviour for Success Program.There is a physical disabilities and autism class onsite and the school also manages the Flametree Annexe, which is an offsite regional facility for students with challenging behaviours.
