Evans High School
Evans High School, a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school has served the Blacktown community since 1973. The school caters for over 600 students (62% Language Other than English) and provides a broad curriculum; including the full range of academic subjects, as well as a number of vocational education pathways, to ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve their chosen career pathways. Evans High School incorporates the Evans Intensive English Centre which caters for up to 250 recently arrived students from overseas who require intensive tuition in English. Many of these students come from areas of high conflict in various parts of the world. A significant number choose to remain with us to finish their education, adding to the diverse mix of cultures and talent at the school.The school is part of a Learning Community Group with Walters Road Public School and Blacktown West Public School. Evans High School also includes a specialist unit which caters for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Western Sydney Region Return to School Centre, designed to support the return to school of students who have been placed on long suspension, is also located on site. In 2011 a specialist Trade Training Centre was purpose built in conjunction with Doonside Technology High School and Coreen Special School. This Trade Training Centre has provided state of the art facilities for the delivery of Hospitality and Metals and Engineering to industry standard; creating an option for dual accreditation for students.
