Ashcroft High School
Ashcroft High School has an enrolment of approximately 620 students including 50% from backgrounds with languages other than English and 55 Aboriginal students. The school is supported by PSP funding and, while the school has won a number of awards including a Director-General and Dare to Lead awards for Aboriginal education, it is important that we continue to work with our community to consolidate a sustainable approach to learning in a way that guarantees success into the future. The school plan is grounded on the belief that in order to ensure effective learning then the focus must be on the development of the whole child. We believe there is a strong relationship between the academic (including a focus on literacy and numeracy), physical, mental and socio-cultural needs of students, and that they are of equal importance and crucial to ensuring successful educational outcomes. The Quality Teaching Framework binds learning across the school and ensures that we are comprehensive in our ability to meet the needs of all students, inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and the broad range of cultural understandings. Personalised learning, including the setting of individual targets, is supported by constant feedback and assessment.
