The school's purpose is to build a progressive learning empowered school where students develop capabilities of critical and creative thinking, collaboration, communication and resilience that will equip them as successful young adults. Of special note is the school's instrumental program, including a symphonic orchestra which is highly renowned and respected. Also Pittwater has been selected as a Lighthouse School in Agriculture, the only urban school to receive this honour. There are many additional cocurricular activities including debating, writing club, dance ensemble, chess club, sailing, Duke of Edinburgh, knock out sport teams and Science club. Curriculum delivery is framed around the school based initiative ACED: Adjustments and Assessment for Learning; Challenging and Creative Learning with Choice; Engagement and Enrichment; and Differentiation of the curriculum. Also supporting student engagement is state of the art technology systems across the school and use of learning platforms such as Google classroom. Students also have access to a homework club before school each day and a staffed Learning Centre during the day. With a proactive student wellbeing program run by a dedicated welfare team, student surveys indicate that they are happy to attend the school and have a strong connection to the school. Facilities are well resourced and include a performing arts centre, tennis courts, a multimedia centre, a large oval and playing fields, spacious shaded gardens, a Trade Training Centre for Hospitality and specialist facilities for Agriculture.
