Finley High School

Finley High School has provided quality education to the rural communities of Berrigan, Finley, Jerilderie and Tocumwal for over fifty years. It has a tradition of excellence in academics with strong HSC results over many years. It also has a history of outstanding results in sport, agriculture, public speaking and debating. Our vision is to prepare our students to be responsible and active citizens of the future, able to make informed contributions as citizens and leaders. The school achieves its vision by focusing on three key strategic directions: Wellbeing, Learning and Collabroative Teaching. Our aim is to ensure that teaching is innovative, contemporary and evidence-based. We strive to build a culture where learning is valued by students, teachers, parents and the wider community. We aim to improve the collective wellbeing of our school community by supporting the academic, physical, emotional and social needs of our students and their families. We achieve this by working together with our communities to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. The school boasts some excellent resources including a trade training centre for Hospitality, a state of the art technology facility and a Gym. We have an active Student Representative Council, Senior Leadership Group, peer support leaders and a Student Team on Mental Positivity (STOMP) who all work proactively in the school to project the student voice and improve social outcomes for students. The school's homework centre allows students to access assistance with both improving their learning as well as challenging their creativity through enrichment activities. The IXL program for senior students is encouraging independent learning skills and raising expectations of student achievement. Positive Behaviour for Learning is a focus of the whole school community, with all students and staff focusing on being respectful, responsible learners. The active P&C group works closely with the principal to improve facilities and opportunities for the students at the school, whilst an active AECG works with the school to ensure our aboriginal students and families are supported. The school motto is Wisdom is Strength.
