Camden Haven High School

Camden Haven High School is a purpose built integrated comprehensive school, which involves students being on site for classes as well as a large number of students who are distance learners. Our on site students are drawn from the local Camden Haven community and distance learners can enrol from the Central Coast to Coffs Harbour and inland to Armidale and east to Lord Howe Island. We have a large, talented and experienced staff and are able to offer a broad range of courses to cater for the diverse needs of students across all years, 7 to 12. The core business at Camden Haven High School is of teaching and learning. We pride ourselves in upholding the core values of respect, responsibility and doing your best. Our school motto of Aim for the Highest underpins all that we do. The school has outstanding facilities including a multipurpose centre, performance space, connected classroom, video conferencing facilities, outdoor learning areas, large well resourced library and a school farm with a proactive cattle team sponsored by the local Agricultural Society and parents in business. The school facilities are well utilised by all students to assist them in attaining academic, sporting, social and cultural learning outcomes. Strong links with parents, local businesses, sporting and service clubs and the wider community provide numerous opportunities for our students to succeed. This includes a mentoring program for indigenous students, transition planning, community interagency support and local businesses who provide venues for work experience and work placement. We have an active P&C Association which meets regularly. The P&C runs the school canteen, caters for various school functions and provides sponsorship for the school bus as well identified programs to support student learning across all areas of the school. Extra-curricula activities for students include robotics, bridge building, chess, public speaking and debating, cultural activities and any number of sporting teams. Many of our students also volunteer with community organizations such as the Surf Life Saving clubs in the area, the SES and the Rural Fire Brigade. There is also a strong culture of student leadership. Our well established Student Representative Council (SRC) members work in close collaboration with the staff, to effectively implement their plans and achieve the identified goals of the student body. Ours is a PBL school. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is an approach that helps create a culture where positive behaviour thrives. Students know what behaviours are expected of them and there is a consistent response to these behaviours across the whole school. Camden Haven High School is a proud member of the Camden Haven Community of Schools. As the only secondary school in the Camden Haven Community of Schools we provide the venue and engage all the schools in the local area through curriculum sharing enrichment days, an extensive transition program and the Camden Haven Arts Festival For Students (CHAFFS). This annual event showcases the talents of all students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our school provides a positive educational experience which equips all students with the skills needed to enhance their personal lives and move into academc, vocational or business opportunities.
