Kingsgrove North High School

Kingsgrove North High School is a well-resourced comprehensive, co-educational school providing learning from Years 7 to 12. It currently has an enrolment of 860 students. Kingsgrove North High School was established in 1959. We proudly serve the diverse, multicultural communities around the suburb of Kingsgrove. We focus on learning and providing quality education through a diverse curriculum for both mainstream and support class students. Our strong student management and welfare systems promote a safe and peaceful environment. Students are encouraged to respect each other as they work co-operatively to meet the school's high expectations. We challenge students to achieve personal success in everything they do. We expect students to gain knowledge, understanding and skills to enable them to contribute positively to our society. The aim of promoting excellence in a caring and supportive environment underpins the school culture of Kingsgrove North High School. This culture is grounded in the concepts that all of our students learn to achieve, to create and to lead. School plans have been developed around these concepts and therefore target: literacy (including digital literacy), numeracy, extension and support across the curriculum; visual and performing arts; individual effort and teamwork in sport, and leadership training from Year 7 through to Year 12. Quality teaching binds the work of staff and builds quality learning relationships that value mutual respect, rights, responsibility, justice, fairness and diversity. We also place great value on helping our students to develop those skills necessary for them to become independent lifelong learners and to see themselves contributing to society. The school boasts many high profile graduates in the Arts, Law, Police, Sport, Medicine, and in Education. Our Trade Training Centre has industry standard learning spaces for the delivery of Hospitality (Kitchen Operations), Metal and Engineering, and Construction as well as offering VET Retail. In September 2010 we launched our community of schools. Alongside Kingsgrove North High in our community are McCallums Hill, Earlwood, Bexley North and Clemton Park Public Schools. This community means even more effective Year 7 transition programs with our Primary schools; we develop literacy and numeracy strategies from Stage 3 that are continued into Stage 4, and share professional learning across schools while supporting continuity of student learning.  We have a Friday Breakfast Club; a Model Making Club and Chess Club. The school also has a highly celebrated PacFest dance group open to all students. The school also has a Thursday afternoon Homework and Study Centre staffed by teachers across all KLAs. We have Gifted and Talented Program (Cultissima) to extend and challenge students across all year groups. The school has significant industry and business links to support our VET Work Placement program. The school also has extensive links with tertiary providers like Sydney University, University of NSW, Macquarie University, University of Western Sydney and UTS. Years 11 and 12 are mentored by staff to develop and achieve their own senior student goals be they university, vocational education or workplace transition. Staff develop students' time management and study skills - integral to HSC
